June & Waiting

We have made some progress. Counter tops for kitchen and master bathroom have been installed and look great! 95% of the electrical is done and working. I was like a kid in a toy shop these past two weekends. Each day I got so see the electricity hooked up in each room and then come on. With 90 to 100 degree weather and more rain than I care to talk about, the ceiling fans where the greatest gift!!! Here is what the kitchen now looks like.

This is a slightly different view. I got enough ceiling tile sanded and painted so that we could put up the 3 island lights. The ceiling tiles are old tin panels that came from a old pharmacy in Clifton, Texas. The old wall sink that is next to the cook top was given to us by a neighbor. It had been laying out in a field for years.

This is the bar and main sink island that is in from of the living area of the greatroom. I really like the way the sink looks with the stone.

We are praying that the rain will hold off for the next 2 days and we can get one of the air conditioning units installed. We had 6 inches of rain in a 2 day time span. 5 of those 6 inches came in about a 4 hour period in one day. It has been so humid I did not want to finish the work on the kitchen cabinets. I need the wood to dry out some before I finish them. The other item that I must finish before I can put furniture in are the floors. They need a final coat of the sealer. That can't be done in humid weather or with people coming in and out of the house.
Our entry lights really turned out beautiful. There are two and each one is centered in an arche. Here is what one looks like.

And this is a close up of the entry light.

I had found some tile to line the floors in the bathrooms and had been putting off doing the work for weeks. This past Saturday two visitors come wanting to know about our 'Nursery'. I told them about my situation and that the 'Nursery' was put on hold till I can get the house finished. Wouldn't you know it, the young gentleman with his mother had just moved here from New Mexico and did tile work. I showed him what I had and Saturday I got my tile put in. Someone is looking out for me!
