I signed Aidan up for swimming lessons at a park in our neighborhood. The swimming is in a pond and it's not the most gorgeous swimming hole aound, but it is a treasure as a community gathering place. His lessons started this week and he has two more weeks. The day goes like this - we get there at 10am and there is no struggle to get there on time because Aidan LOVES to go. He finishes around 10:45 and then plays until about 11:30. We go home for lunch and then go off on some other adventure or go back to the pond for more swimming. At this point there are lifeguards there and I can pretty much sit under a tree with the baby and a woman that I know who homeschools. Aidan plays in the water or on the playground equipment with her daughters and their friends and I don't have to worry about him. He's having such a great time - this was him at about 4:30 on Friday. He laid down there while I dug a flower bed and slept straight through til the next morning. (I brought him to bed, of course.)
The pictures above were all taken by Aidan.

Wow! When is his first gallery show? Those are great photos.
Those are great photos - I'd never have guessed they were taken by a kid. The photo of him conked out is great too. What a lovely summer image.
I just love Aiden's perspective...and the pond set up sounds wonderful!!!
Those sound like idyllic summer days, Christy. Do you ever go berry picking? That's great in upstate NY, too. Easy with kids, and they don't weigh pickers before & after... Around here those farms are closed on Sunday, so Monday am is the best time, before it gets too hot... except after rain...
Great pictures. A is really sleeping "the sleep of the just."
See you soon.

All of those pictures are just gorgeous. What a wonderful summer. I feel like a total shlub, because my summer rhythm is like: Wake up, go to work, come home, put the kids in front of the tube so i can get my head together, hand them off to their father, go to work again, come home grouchy, read stories, and go to bed.
We'll make up for it in the fall, but still! Gah!
