We don't eat meat but our dog is on a bones and raw food diet, which means we give him raw poultry every day. My mother-in-law doesn't cook much so since we've been living here, she eats mostly vegetarian with us. Wes doesn't have much experience with meat that's not exclusively for him. The entire time my MIL was preparing this bird, Wes expected the meal of his life.

Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words - I love Wes' expression - priceless!!!!! Have you noticed any improvements in his skin, coat, etc. on the BARF diet?
That post is really meaningful for me - not the dog part , though that was cute. Its hard to live with someone who gets tense from god hair under the couch, especially when your a "wheres the couch under all that stuff anyway" kinda girl.
I started him on the diet because he had these chronic, painful ear infections - the vet kept recommending a cleaning with a vinegar/water solution which was torture for him. We had always given him Nutro's lamb-rice food, and I didn't know how to get a dog food any better than that. His ears are still a little sensitive, but the infections went away and never came back, so I'm a big believer in the diet. I used to make a slop for him out of raw eggs and ground up veggies, a little flax seed oil and brewer's yeast. I stopped doing that, but I think he was healtheir with it in his diet - I keep meaning to get back into the habit of it..
Dear Christy,
Mokka's grandma told us to give her some brewer's yeast (Vit.B) and garlic powder. I get a can - 1lb of Br.Y. at a health food store, mix in ~1oz. garlic powder; this lasts a long time. She gets about a tsp. mixed into her food 1x or 2x/day. The B-vit. is good for her hair-coat, skin, nervous system; the garlic powder keeps away most insects, etc. Mokka's only had fleas 1x in 14 years, and no problems with ticks, mosquitos, etc.
I love the picture of your MIL with the turkey. It is an intense scene. How many of you were together for dinner, just you four, or other family members too? I just had the guys with me and my B-I-L. Small, simple, but great dinner.
Love,
Alexa
We had 15 people, which is actually a small group for this family. We often exceed that just for a birthday.
